The world's oldest, largest and longest two-wheeled recreational tour will be making one of its overnight stays in Des Moines this year. The Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa kicks off July 21 in Council Bluffs and ends 406.6 miles later in Fort Madison. The overnight stop in Des Moines will be Tuesday, July 23. It is the first time RAGBRAI is coming through Des Moines in 16 years.

We are excited to unveil the new logo/slogan to celebrate the event being held on Tuesday, July 23rd along the Principal River Walk. The logo features the capital city’s skyline with a bicycle wheel rising behind it like a sunrise. The tagline reads, “Des Moines: Even Better in Spandex.”
The design was created by Raygun, the popular East Village T-shirt shop known for its Iowa-based humor. Shirts will go on sale in the store Friday, May 3rd for $20 each.
T-shirts will also be available throughout the day at the official RAGBRAI Event Village that will be erected along the Principal River Walk. Organizers will close Water Street and the Court Avenue and Walnut Street Bridges to create a festival atmosphere that will include two live music stages, a biking expo and food & beverage vendors from 11am-10:30pm.
Cyclists who want to customize their own bike jerseys can bring them to Raygun and have the Des Moines logo silkscreened directly to their garment for $10.
