Graphic Designer

The Graphic Designer position is responsible for providing graphic design and production services for all organizational marketing and communications projects. This includes editorial/magazine layout design for our annual Visitors Guide, strategic marketing initiatives, ad campaigns, communications pieces, collateral creation, e-marketing and other design projects (both digital and traditional). Works with others to manage all forms of brand creative, from conception to execution. Works closely with Director of Creative & Communications and Vice President of Marketing on brand and creative development and execution. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

• Works with the ad agency to design, size, layout and template the organization’s advertisements, marketing materials and collateral for print and digital. 

• Must be proficient in Adobe Suite, including Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop. Editorial/magazine layout design experience is highly preferred. Video editing/production skills is a bonus. 

• Oversees design production of annual Catch Des Moines Visitors Guide. Creates layout for the magazine, which will include copy, images, graphics, advertising, etc. Works to help schedule photography, freelance writers, editors, and publishing. Creates processes to ensure that deadlines and standards are met. Also, will oversee similar projects, like the Catch Des Moines Planners Guide.  

• Oversees Brand Style Guide and brand materials to ensure a consistent look and tone in the messaging of Catch Des Moines throughout all mediums. 

• Collaborates with Sales and Event Experience teams to ensure their projects are handled within brand standards to help them reach their goals. 

• Helps offer creative guidance and strategy for content creation with all initiatives, including brand, relevancy and other campaigns. 

• Helps coordinate design efforts for co-op program, when needed. Designs or oversees design for co-op advertising, when needed. 

• Oversee direct mail projects to ensure projects are handled within brand standards and elevated year-to-year. 

• Provides photography acquisition support and recommends photo assets. 

• Color corrects and edits photo and video assets as needed.  

• Support Catch Des Moines website, creating visuals and recommending photos/assets, as needed. 

• Creates any signage or collateral needed for events or advertising.  

• Reviews all routed materials to ensure brand standards are met.  

• Works with the Senior Marketing Manager to ensure any printed collateral is designed and ordered efficiently to ensure deadlines and installation dates are met.  

• Help execute annual events, particularly our annual golf outing and annual celebration.  

• Must be a creative mind with a keen attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and work efficiently and independently to meet deadlines. 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or three to five years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
